Unless noted as IN "LIBRARY USE ONLY" these resources are available from any internet connection. Access to most databases will require a valid C/W MARS library card number. Please contact the Northborough Free Library if you have any questions about using these resources.

Academic One File is the premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles with authoritative and extensive coverage of the sciences, technology, medicine, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects from the world's leading journals and reference sources.Updated daily, millions of articles and podcasts are available in both PDF and HTML.
Virtual Reference Library from Gale is a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Sources may be searched individually or together.
Encyclopaedia Britannica is the oldest English-language encyclopedia. Access two sites in one—a child-friendly collection and an adult general reference collection. Students can access encyclopedias, Britannica-approved Web sites, and a Student Center with an atlas, biographies, multimedia, "How To” guides for school reports, and other learning materials. Older students and adults will find similar resources created for advanced information seekers in the Britannica Reference Center (adult) section.
General OneFile is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles, including most of the content across all Thomson/Gale databases. OneFile contains over 5,000 full-text periodical titles, and more than 9,200 titles in all, on a wide range of topics.
General Reference Center Gold is a general interest database used to search magazines, reference books, and newspapers for information on current events, popular culture, the arts and sciences, sports, etc.

Boston Metro Collection from Newsbank provides full text and selected coverage from over 95 local eastern Massachusetts newspapers from Abington to Worcester including the Metrowest Daily News, the Shrewsbury Chronicle, The Northborough-Southborough Villager, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette and more.
Boston Globe covers local and regional news and is indexed to cover companies, people, products, etc. Search and find full-text articles.
New York Times includes the New York Times from January 1, 1980 to the present, including the New York Times Magazine and the New York Times Book Review.
Global Issues in Context offers international viewpoints on a broad spectrum of global issues, topics, and current events. Featured are hundreds of continuously updated issue and country portals that bring together a variety of specially selected, highly relevant sources for analysis of social, political, military, economic, environmental, health, and cultural issues.
Opposing Viewpoints in Context is an engaging online experience for those seeking contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today's hottest social issues. Biography in Context delivers nearly a million biographical entries spanning history and geography.This Gale Group resource offers media-rich content in context by integrating reference material, periodical information and multimedia content that's updated daily. There are 600,000+ biographies covering more than 525,000 individuals with 50,000 new or updated bios added annually in addition to daily updates to account for awards and events, plus hundreds of topic pages covering the highest-interest features.

Nursing Resource Center includes articles, diagrams, drug information, and more. Find information from sources such as journals and standard health reference works.
Health & Wellness Resource Center provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, numerous reference volumes, over 700 health videos, hundreds of pamphlets and health-related articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Gale reference titles. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.

InfoTrac Junior Edition is designed for junior high and middle school students. It includes mainly full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books covering current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

Rosetta Stone is an online language learning tool that offers 30 languages and 5 levels of instruction to meet a range of community needs, including American English.  Focused activities and core lessons build reading, wriiting, speaking, and listening skills.  Mobile apps help learners to refine and reinforce new language skills on-the-go.
